CUYAHOGA FALLS - Waveland Drayton Davis, 83, passed away December 17, 2012.
He was born on January 21, 1929, the son of Waveland and Iva Davis.
Wave graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, and later received an MS degree in Polymer Chemistry from The University of Akron. With 40 years of service, he retired from The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1991.
His professional affiliations include membership in the International Working Toxicology Committee for Rubber Chemical Manufacturing Association and the Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers.
He was a member of The Church in Silver Lake.
Wave dearly loved his family and they returned his love in countless ways. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maryelyn Yount Davis; son Stephen (Elizabeth) Davis of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters Carolyn (Jim) Weybrecht of Gilbert, AZ and Julie Saccogna of Hudson; grandchildren Stefan Davis, Ryan Weybrecht, Clifford Weybrecht, Jillian Saccogna and Bethany Saccogna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pearlmarie and JD Goddard; nephew Darren (Vanessa) Whitford; and niece Melody (Matt) Hunter.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Wednesday 4 to 7 PM. Private graveside service Thursday at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa, 444 N. Main Street, Akron 44310 or to The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Road, Silver Lake 44224.
