William B. Nellis, son of William Bryant Nellis Sr. and Emma Lois Niver, died November 28, 2012. He was 84 years old.
Bill was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Texas at an early age and moved to Stow in 1975. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 37 years' service.
Bill was a member of Grangers of America, Stow Community Garden Club, Stow Retirement Club, Silver Lake AARP and Stow United Methodist Church.
He served in the Army and received a commendation for his contribution to the intelligence effort.
Bill particularly enjoyed playing bridge, traveling with his wife Betty, and attending many activities of his local grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents and brother, he is survived by wife of 56 years, Betty, daughter Lucinda (Jerry) Huffman of Dawsonville, GA, son Brett (Joy) of San Antonio, TX, son Brad (Susie) of Twinsburg, OH, step-son John (Velda) Chadwick of Boulder City, NV, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to the Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Friday from 5 to 8 PM, where Rev. Scott Hayward will conduct service Saturday 10:30 AM. Interment Silver Springs Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Stow, 4880 Fishcreek Road, Stow, OH 44224.
