LITCHFIELD - “I am trusting in Christ alone for my salvation.” That is the testimony of William Paul (“Bill”) Emerick, who passed safely into the arms of his Savior, Jesus, on July 28, 2026. He was 87 years old. He had been faithfully married to his wife Josephine (nee’ Canitia) for 55 years. Bill is survived by his four daughters: Alice (Jeff) Sanders, Linda (Bryan) Hort, Donna (Mathew) Plesz, and Michelle (Ed) Pawlak. He is also survived by his dearest friend, Sharon Kappler.
Shortly before he passed away, he clearly stated how very proud he was of each of his daughters, and how greatly blessed he was to be not only their father, but also grandfather to: Erik (Marina) Sanders, David (Valeria) Sanders, Rachel (Adam) Gilger, Jonathan (Claudia) Hort, Joshua (Nancy) Pawlak, Jeremy (Anita) Pawlak, Abigail (Lucas) Richards, Jessica (Phil) Flynn, Corey (Heather) Plesz, Nathan Sanders, Anna Hort, and Celeste Depew. In addition to his grandchildren, he was also very proud of his nineteen great-grandchildren.
Bill lived the American dream, being honorably discharged from the US Air Force, then working his way up from sweeping the floor to purchaser at LTV Steel. He faithfully worked at LTV Steel for over 40 years. In 1988, the greatest change in his life occurred when he and his wife Jo understood that religion and obedience to rituals and good works do not save, and they put their trust in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation.
Since his retirement, Bill enjoyed many hard-earned vacations, hobbies (such as golf and bowling), and spending time with this family at many holiday and birthday gatherings. He will be fondly remembered for several humorous stories, and for his amazing ability to build or repair anything.
Jeff Sanders will officiate the funeral service at 2:30 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224. Friends may call 1 PM to 2:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
