STOW – William E. Godbey, 86, died March 26, 2026.
A son of the late Clarence and Marie Godbey, he was born in Evans, WV, he was a resident of Stow most of his life, and a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. Bill and Carolyn were introduced by a cousin of Carolyn's, and they were married for 63 years. Bill retired from General Motors. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His sense of humor and bantering with people was well known. He loved helping people with any project whether it was putting air in the neighborhood kids' bicycles, helping to remodel your home, working on your car or any other project. He loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. He was a skilled mechanic, wood worker and gun smith. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara, and Dolores, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Godbey; daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Bell, Stacey (Michael Brazelton) Godbey; son, Steven (Jessica) Godbey; granddaughter Leah Godbey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 PM Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Silver Springs Lodge also known as Leona Farris Lodge in Silver Springs Park, 5027 Stow Rd, Stow, OH 44224. at 4:00pm. It will be a casual open house to honor his memory.
