STOW - William M. Smith, Jr., 65, was born October 3, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William M. Smith, Sr. and Eleanore M. Smith. He forged a career as a machinist for R.F. Cook, Euclid Inc., Kent Worldwide, and Gougler Industries, before founding his own successful business, D.E.S. Machine Services.
William was a board member of Grace and Glory Fellowship in Cuyahoga Falls. He also traveled across the country with his wife, Debora, and friends, as a member of the HOG Harley Davidson Group.
William took great joy from creating laughter and memories largely via outdoor adventures. As a young man, he was passionate about off-roading and was a member of the Tire Town 4-Wheelers on land, and by water was charter fishing Lake Erie in his early years. Continuing the love of lake life as an avid boater, he spent many summers with friends and family on the local lakes as well as the mountain lakes of Tennessee in his mid-to-later years. A die-hard Cleveland sports fan, he enjoyed taking in as many games as possible whether on TV, or preferably, in person. William’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
William is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debora; parents, Eleanore Smith and William (Deidre) Smith; his son, Michael (Megan) Smith; his daughters, Jennifer Smith and Erica (Kevin) Scheutzow; seven grandchildren, Samuel Waddell, Jacob Waddell, Grace Waddell, Wesley Smith, Jonah Smith, Everett Scheutzow, and Riley Scheutzow; sisters, Suzanne Opalecky, Cynthia (Gregg) Partin, Amanda (Scott) Gill, and brother, Christopher (Angelique) Smith.
