HUDSON - Zetta Dunlap Humphries, 98, of Hudson, Ohio, formerly of Port Orange, Florida, and Alexandria, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 3, 2026, after a long and well-lived life, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on January 17, 1928, in Mount Solon, Virginia, Zetta was the youngest daughter of the late Wilber Hanger Dunlap and Effie May Huffer Dunlap. Over the course of nearly ninety-nine years, she lived a life defined by love, faith, kindness, and quiet strength. Her greatest legacy was not measured in years, but in the generations of family she loved, nurtured, and inspired.

She was the devoted wife of the late Claude F. Humphries, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together they built a family that became the greatest joy of her life.

She leaves behind three loving daughters: Carolyn Walker of St. Augustine, Florida; Claudia Kirk (Chuck) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; and Nancy Galea (Mark) of Hudson, Ohio. She was a proud grandmother to Brian Walker; Amy Sarafin (Justin); Kevin Walker (Sarah); Kelly McCrossin (Hunter); Courtney Williams (Matt); Benjamin Galea (Mary); Daniel Galea (Kara); and the late Adam Galea, whose memory remained close to her heart.

Zetta was also blessed with sixteen cherished great-grandchildren: Davin, Nolan, and Ewan Walker; Lucy and Jane Sarafin; Laney, Henry, and Parker McCrossin; Hadley, Lawson, and Reeve Williams; Hannah Galea; Claire and Owen Galea; and Piper and Wren Galea. Each of them brought her immeasurable happiness and pride. She is also survived by her sister, Juineta Michael of Springfield, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, parents, and grandson Adam, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

To know Zetta was to experience genuine kindness. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, her hands were rarely idle as she created beautiful needlework and handcrafted treasures, and her heart was always open to those she loved. She had a gentle spirit, a generous nature, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Her example taught that the greatest measure of a life is found not in what we accumulate, but in the love we freely give.

While her family grieves her passing, they are deeply grateful for the blessing of her long and beautiful life and for the countless memories she leaves behind. Her love will continue to live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and in all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Funeral service will be held at 4 PM, Friday August 14, 2026, at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 148 Rock Mountain Lane, Crimora, VA 24431.
