STOW - Margie T. Easterling, 79, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, died August 30, 2022. Born in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, she left the farm for greener pastures and was a longtime Stow resident.
Margie is survived by her daughters, Hollys (Heath) Hall and Laura (John) Wieland, and grandchildren, Austin (Emily) Hall, Emma (Harrison) Dalby, Jonah Wieland, and Julia Wieland. She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Easterling; parents, George and Delphine Toops, brothers, George Del and Steven N. Toops, and 25-year partner, John Papp.
Mom loved spending time with her family and friends. We would like to extend a very special thank you to many who visited and cared for her, the Mahoney family, as well as to Traditions Hospice. We treasured our daily calls and texts full of hearts and love which often arrived early in the morning or late in the night. She was always thinking of others.
Margie earned her bachelor’s and master's degrees from The University of Akron. She taught for 37 years in both the Cuyahoga Falls City School District and Stow City School District, and still has many teacher buddies and students who keep in touch. When Mom wasn’t working, she and John were traveling the world, attending Broadway shows, experiencing the Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom, and cheering on all Ohio sports teams, making friends everywhere they went. She loved a party and never met a stranger. Mom enjoyed decorating on a budget, thrift store shopping and garage sales, always searching for treasures. She was a wonderful seamstress and we have never come close to being able to iron like she could.
We are beyond thankful for the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Her strength, determination, and endless energy, combined with her genuine love for family and friends touched the lives of so many.
