Our History

Redmon Funeral Home was founded in 1968 by Bruce and Lou-Ann Redmon, who set out to provide compassionate, professional funeral care to families in Stow, Munroe Falls, and the surrounding communities. Their dedication established a tradition of service that became the hallmark of the funeral home.

In the 1980s, their son Keith Redmon joined the business, helping to strengthen the family legacy and expand the home’s service offerings. As the community grew, so did the funeral home—while remaining at its original location at 3633 Darrow Road. Through thoughtful expansions and renovations, the building evolved into a warm, comfortable, and fully accessible facility with convenient parking and welcoming gathering spaces.

Over the decades, the Redmon family and their caring staff have supported thousands of families—guiding them with compassion, dignity, and respect. Their commitment to aftercare and community support led to the creation of The GriefCare Place in 1997, a nonprofit grief center offering support groups, a resource library, and educational programs for children, teens, and adults navigating loss.

As the needs of families changed, Redmon Funeral Home stayed at the forefront of service by offering preplanning options, cremation services, video tributes, online memorials, and convenient digital tools to make planning easier.

More than 50 years after opening its doors, Redmon Funeral Home remains a trusted, respected presence in Stow—honored to serve the community one family at a time.

It was over 30 years ago when Lou-Ann Redmon, Founder and Executive Director of The GriefCare Place, recognized that widows needed support, encouragement, and reassurance that what they were experiencing as grievers was normal. She realized the impact they could have on each other by coming together and finding support in one another. This is how the first support group began to grow. As the need for bereavement support grew, the vision for a stand-alone, non-profit organization specifically created to provide support for grieving children, adolescents, and adults was born. The GriefCare Place was founded in June of 1997, by Lou-Ann Redmon and other volunteers, to fulfill that vision.

Since that time, The GriefCare Place has not only served thousands of grieving individuals and families, but it has also been utilized by churches, social agencies, schools, extended care facilities, nursing, psychology, ministerial, and medical students, hospices, and other community organizations. The GriefCare Place currently serves 64 communities in Northeast Ohio and is committed to bring hope and healing to broken hearts caused by the death of a loved one.
